The Buy With Confidence scheme provides consumers with a list of reputable businesses that they can trust and use with confidence and to support and recognise those businesses which are committed to high standards of trading and prepared to comply with both the letter and the spirit of the law.

Membership of the scheme is voluntary but we welcome applications from all kinds of businesses, big and small.

Your business must:

Be committed to good customer service
Have been operating for a minimum of 6 months
Be based in a local authority area which operates the scheme or do the majority of your business in one of these areas
Not cold call customers
Comply with consumer protection legislation (see www.everythingregulation.org.uk.)
Have appropriate insurance
Abide by the terms of membership of the scheme.

Warning over Yellow Pages Scam

Businesses are being advised to look out for fraudsters posing as call centre sales agents from the Yellow Pages.

YellowPages24 has been misleading businesses into paying up to £600 for adverts, which they think will appear in genuine Yellow Pages directory, but no adverts are forthcoming.

Businesses are advised to be diligent and ensure that they are dealing with Yell Ltd for their Yellow Pages advertising.

Members should note that the genuine Yellow Pages does offer preferential rates to BWC members but if they are unsure about any call they receive purporting to be from Yellow Pages they should ask for a confirmation email. All genuine Yellow Pages email addresses end with the suffix '@yellgroup.com'
